All Chess Sets and Clocks will be provided!
Clocks will be placed at boards for each game that lasts over 30 minutes.
Then each player has 10 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 10-second delay each move.
(G/10, d10) Prizes will be awarded at the end based on donations.
This tournament format will be based on lichess.org Arena pairings.
- There are no set round numbers.
- Each player receives a card, one side green, the other side red. If you want to be paired, turn your card to the green side. If you want a break, turn it to the red side.
- Each idle player with their card set to green is paired with another green-idle player of the most similar score and rating*.
- Pairings should be avoided, whenever possible, between two players that have played each-other in the last hour, or if one of the players has faced the other in his / her last 3 games, whichever is shorter.
- A player should not have to wait more than 10 minutes to receive a pairing, if there are unpaired players available.
- Each win is worth one (1) point. Each draw is worth one-half (1/2 or 0.5) point.
- Tiebreaks at the end are (A) number of games played, followed by (B) rating*, then (C) head-to-head score, then (D) dice roll.
- There will be no "Berzerking" allowed in this tournament. (If you don't know what that is, then you don't need to worry!)
- There will be no "Streaks" counted for the purposes of scoring in this tournament. All wins are worth 1 point, and all draws are worth 0.5 point.
- At 22 minutes before the official "games end" time (4:23pm, where games end at 4:45), all games in progress will receive a clock (G/10 d10) regardless of how long it has been since they started. No new games will be started after this time.
- All games will be NWSRS rated. There are no memberships required for this tournament!
*Regarding tiebreaks and pairing "similar" players: Lower rating breaks ties. Unrated beats rated player in tiebreaks. If both players in question are unrated, lower grade level wins.
